Because I had been to the Flowertown Festival in previous years, I decided to go to the Catfish Festival in St. Stephen this year. I was very disappointed in what I found there. I expected all kinds of booths with various recipes of catfish cooking, the local fire department, shriners, anyone. What I got was children's rides, a table full of hostile looking women that didn't even speak or have food displayed but this was supposed to be the table with the catfish stew!, and ONE vendor selling catfish nuggets and fries that I could have bought from the local Bi-Lo and cooked them myself. With the exception of one sign at the road, I wasn't even sure I was at the Catfish Festival! I know St. Stephen is a small town, but come on, where was the catfish?
